Hey Everybody!,
I am so blown away. You guys are the nicest bunch of people that
I've ever met. Thank you all so much for the emails and posts. You
guys are gonna give me a big head :-) Seriously though, you guys have
made my time with MB20 so special. I look forward to seeing as many of
you as I can in 2004. There are many exciting things coming up and
I'll let you all know as soon as I can. Maybe at the chat ;-) Special
thanks has to be given to the one and only Shirlise for setting this
whole thing up. You all have a great Xmas/Channukah/Kwanzaa/Festivus
and New Year! Can't wait to see you all again.
See you soon,
Love always,
Matt

Hey y'all,
Wanted to let you know the Lisa Loeb tour is off to a good start.
It's been great seeing some of you out there. Thanks so much for
coming to the shows. You guys are just too much! Thanks for everything
and I'll be seeing and speaking to you all soon.
all the best,
Matt

Hey Everybody,
Now that I'm settled back into home, I wanted to write you all and
say thank you so much for coming out to all the Lisa and Dweezil
shows. It was so great to see you guys out there. Lisa loved all those
signs. She loved the whole "Beckalicious" thing too. Also, please
accept my apologies for bagging out on the chat at the last minute. I
got called for a great session that I couldn't pass up. Seems as
though Rob has been bitten by the producer bug. He was in town
producing (and co-writing I believe) a couple of songs for a new group
called "Antigone Rising". They have a CD coming out on Lava/Atlantic
pretty soon. They're an all girl rock band that really, really rocks.
Greg Collins was engineering and he and Rob called me in to play some
piano and B3 on a couple of tracks. It was a blast and I think the CD
will do great. Look for it. Aside from that, just a few things around
town here in NYC. Hope everybody is doing well and we'll get the chat
thing together real soon. I promise. Thanks for being so patient with
me. I'll be talking to you all.
Take care,
Matt

Hey Everybody,
Just a quick hello. Settled in back here in NYC for the time
being. Hope everyone is well. I forgot to mention a couple of things
the last time I posted. I did some guitar and keys on the latest
Tracy Bonham CD that I'm really excited about. Watch for it. Also,
the new James Katz CD is out. This is my band here in NYC. James is
an amazing songwriter. Check him out at www.jameskatz.com. Chat with
you all soon. (sun. I think?)

Dear all,
I hope things are well with everyone. Sorry I haven't been more
active on the sites. When I'm not touring, I get so busy with so many
projects. Well, let's see, what have I been up to? I did a gig with
Tracy Bonham that went really well. Hope there'll be more. Did a gig
with Peter Stuart and hope the same. Ditto for James Katz. The MB20
DVD came out. I think it turned out really well. How cool is it that
they kept my introduction in there. There's some cool documentary
footage as well. That whole thing with Adam showing the bus and that
jazzy thing I was playing on the keyboards as a soundtrack had me
rolling. I just happened to be jamming in the jam room back stage and
the camera came in and caught it. Who knew they'd use it? I've
recorded almost a full album with singer/songwriter Jonathan Sheldon
for his forthcoming solo album. He used to be the lead singer of a
band called Naked. Reaaly cool stuff. Currently recording an album
with Dan Lipton (NYC singer/songwriter). Both should be out before too
long. I also do some work on Broadway when I'm in town for a while. I
play shows like Rent, Hairspray, Aida and Lion King whenever they need
me. Did a session with Rob Thomas recently too. It is such a pleasure
to work with him. He is such a great songwriter and it's an honor to
contribute to his work. That's about it. There are some things pending
and I'll be sure to let y'all know when anything is happening. Thanks
so much for being so supportive of me. You guys make it all so much
sweeter for me.
take care,
Matt

Hi everybody,
I haven't posted here in a while and wanted to check in with an
update. Hope everybody is doing well. Things are extremely busy for me
right now. I spent the last week in rehearsal with Rob Thomas and a
full band rehearsing for a small benefit/fundraiser show that happened
2 nights ago. It went really well if I may say so myself. I hate to
toot our own horn but "beep beep". Seriously, it was really fun to be
performing with Rob outside of Matchbox 20. This was also the very
first Rob solo show with a full band. It's really exciting to see this
thing start from the very beginning and it's going to be so fun to be
part of this as it takes off. As if that wasn't enough, directly after
the show I boarded a private plane to get to Detroit in time to do a
morning show with Cantinero. Directly after that we boarded the same
plane and came right back. I got home and basically stayed in bed all
day! So nice to have most of a day off. There's some good stuff coming
up as well. I'll be going out with Ari Hest again for a few weeks and
there's a Lisa Loeb tour of Japan and Hawaii as well. I'll keep you
all posted. Thanks so much for all the nice emails and gifts and
Birthday wishes by the way. I'm so honored that you all enjoy and
appreciate the music that I help make and that you take the time to
tell me so. It always cheers me up.
Thank you,
Matt

It's been a really long time since I posted here and I thought it
was about time. I hope everybody's been really well. I just wrapped
up the first leg of the Rob Thomas American tour. What an
unbelievable thrill that was to be part of something this big and
also part of something brand new. We weren't sure how this was going
to be received. "Something To Be" has a lot of elements that would be
considered a departure of sorts from what you might expect from Rob.
It seemed as though MB20 fans could embrace it or reject it. Many
bands have had solo projects by their members, but not all have
projects that really step out stylistically and explore. I'm so happy
that you guys have all enjoyed the record and the tour as well. I
heard someone say that "Something To Be" has just broke the 3,000,000
mark in sales. If that's true, what a statement by you guys.
Jan. will bring some much needed rest but not before one last
blowout with Matchbox. I''m sure you guys have all heard about the
Vegas New Years show. I just finished a week of rehearsals and all I
can say is "watch the f&*k out". We are coming out strong on that
night. Some major surprises in store as well. As I said, Jan. will be
a much needed break. I'll be managing to squeeze some stuff in there
too. Like a performance or 2 with the lovely Lisa Loeb most likely.
I also wanted to say thanks to all of you guys from the bottom of
my heart for all this love and support. I can't believe this site has
been up for 2 years!! What a testament to you guys. Thanks so much.
As I've always said: You all make this experience so much more
special for me and it never ceases to amaze me how much support I get
from you guys. I've been in touch with Shirlise and I think there's
going to be an interview and/or a chat in the near future, so until
then, everybody stay well and I'll see you all out there.
love,
Matt
